I will not share, sell or rent the email you have given me with anyone. I will never spam you. There is an “unsubscribe” button at the end of all emails I send and clicking on it will remove your email from my mailing list. I do have cookies installed on my site, it’s to help me collect stats about visitors and I get super excited when I see people visiting from all over the world. Lastly, I do use affiliated links which means that I may get advertising fees by advertising and linking to some stores on line (basically, I can receive commissions on some purchases you make when you arrive at some vendors sites after clicking on a link on one of my sites). This doesn’t change anything for you since the price remains the same.

I am available through my contact page if you have any questions or concerns.

What Makes my Readers Happy?

February 14, 2018

I thought it would be fun to see what my readers (who are primarily female) would like to give and/or receive for Valentine's Day this year.

I shared the following list of traditional gifts that are given or received each year for Valentine's Day in one of my monthly newsletters:

  • Flowers, in particular, roses!

  • Chocolate (Sweets for the sweet go together like 'hand in glove')

  • A card or personal romantic poem and/or notes

  • Jewelry

  • Perfume

  • Underwear (with hearts)

  • A watch

  • A shirt/tie

  • Robe/slippers

  • Cologne

Today as I reviewed my Reader responses, I decided to revisit national data as reported the day before Valentine's Day to compare my Reader choices with those of the general public. The info is quite interesting! You might agree with me after taking a peek at the following!

  • Americans will spend $19.6 B on Valentine's Day this year

  • The average person will spend more than $150

  • $ 4 B on jewelry

  • $2 B on flowers

  • The average person will spend $140

  • 94% of people want to receive candy or chocolate

  • 20% of consumers will buy gifts for their pet (s)

I'm excited to share the results from my newsletter poll and was excited that Readers took the time to not only share their choice(s) but to also explain why they would give or hope to receive the gift selected.

Readers were instructed to choose one of the following options and explain their preference. Choice and Percent (rounded)

A diamond (or other) ring/necklace/bracelet~~ 7

Dinner at your favorite restaurant* ~~11

A Valentine's Getaway* ~~5
